Understanding Credits
Currently Free During Beta
LeanScaper AI is free to use while we're in beta. Credit-based billing launches March 2026. Until then, explore everything without worrying about usage limits.
Credits are how LeanScaper AI will measure usage when billing begins. Understanding how they work now helps you plan and get the most value when credits go live.
Why Credits Exist
Let's be direct: AI takes real resources to run.
Every time Lana processes a question, analyzes a document, or generates a response, there's compute power behind it. The more complex the task, the more processing required. A quick answer to a simple question is different from building an SOP or processing a 30-minute huddle transcription. And sometimes a simple question has a complex answer, which takes more work to generate.
We get that this can feel confusing. You're already juggling a lot, and "how much does this cost?" shouldn't require a spreadsheet. Here's what you need to know:
Simple tasks use fewer credits. Quick questions, short responses.
Complex tasks use more. Long documents, detailed analysis, specialist agents with advanced models.
We work hard to make it efficient. Our job is to get you maximum value per credit.
The reality of AI right now is that usage costs money. Credits let us be transparent about that while giving you control over how you use the platform.
Unlimited Users, Usage-Based Credits
Here's something important: adding team members doesn't cost you anything.
Every plan includes unlimited seats. You can add your entire team, every crew lead, every office admin, everyone, without paying more. The people don't cost credits. Their usage does.
This matters because the value of LeanScaper AI multiplies with adoption. One person using it is helpful. Your whole team using it changes how your company operates.
Conversations with Lana
Adding user accounts
Huddle processing
Team members logging in
Document analysis
Viewing boards and cards
Specialist agent work
Browsing LeanDocs
Field request routing
Basic navigation
The takeaway: Get everyone on board. The more people using the system, the more value you get. You're paying for the AI work, not the headcount.
How Credits Will Work
Think of credits as the currency for AI work. Different types of work require different amounts of processing, so they'll consume different amounts of credits.
Once billing launches:
Your subscription includes a monthly credit allocation
Credits reset monthly on your billing date
Unused credits don't roll over
You can track usage anytime in Settings
What Will Consume Credits
Every interaction with Lana and her agents will use credits. Here's how the main activities break down:
Conversations with Lana
Standard chat conversations consume credits based on the length and complexity of the exchange.
A quick question uses fewer credits than a long back-and-forth session developing a detailed proposal.
Huddle Processing
Recording a huddle uses credits when the audio is processed. Longer huddles use more credits.
Processing includes transcription, summary generation, and action item extraction.
Field Requests
When a field request is submitted and routed to a board, credits are consumed for interpretation and routing.
Document Analysis
Uploading and processing documents uses credits. Larger documents require more processing.
Specialist Agents
The specialist agents (CMO, SOP, Strategy, etc.) use more advanced AI models, which consume credits at a higher rate than standard Lana conversations.
Custom Agents
Custom agents consume credits similar to Lana conversations, with some variation depending on how much context they need to process.
Don't overthink it. Normal daily use is what the tiers are designed for. If you're using the platform the way it's intended, you'll be fine.
Plan Tiers (Coming March 2)
When billing launches, your monthly credit allocation will depend on your plan:
Free
250
Trying it out
Core
3,000
Getting started, smaller operations
Premium
8,250
Growing teams, company-wide adoption
Max
18,000
Heavy usage, full operation deployment
All plans include unlimited users. You're paying for AI work, not seats.
Need more than Max? For larger operations or enterprise needs, talk to a Guide about custom plans.
How do I know which plan is right for me?
Start with what feels right for your operation and adjust from there. You can always upgrade if you're hitting limits, and the system will tell you when you're approaching your allocation.
If you're unsure, start with Core. There's no penalty for upgrading later.
Top-Ups (Coming March 2)
If you run out of credits before your reset date, you'll be able to purchase top-ups.
$150 for 1,000 credits
Available on paid plans (Core, Premium, Max)
Used after subscription credits are depleted
Don't expire at your billing date
Pro tip: If you're buying top-ups regularly, it's usually more economical to upgrade your plan. Subscription credits are priced better than top-ups.
